Christian Berkel: »Ada«

On Searching and Arriving
In his new novel, Christian Berkel tells the story of »Ada«, who fled to Argentina with her Jewish mother after the war and returns to Berlin in 1955 – to a strange home whose language she doesn’t speak. There she meets her longed-for father Otto, but the family reunion is not successful, and Ada’s yearning for freedom and independence grows. Against a background of turbulent historic events, Christian Berkel writes about guilt and love, about speechlessness and longing, about searching and arriving – and once again shows himself to be a captivating storyteller.
