Chris Thile »Laysongs«
Fokus Mandoline
The lucky charm
Chris Thile was only 13 years old when he released his first album. Since then, he has been effortlessly defending his reputation as the coolest mandolin player under the sun. From bluegrass and jazz to classical: Thile can do it all, and he plays with such a disarming lightness and virtuosity that even seasoned music lovers who have experienced more than their share of brilliance are amazed.
As a child, he charmed primarily American audiences as a member of the bluegrass band Nickel Creek, in which he played with his father and two sibling friends. Thile has since gained global success leading the virtuosic quintet Punch Brothers. If he only played the mandolin, he would be sensational enough. But Thile also sings and writes fabulous songs.
On stage, through his virtuosity, charm and kindness, he exudes a presence that transforms each concert into an extended moment of joy. After two visits in 2017 and 2018, first solo, then with the Punch Brothers, and both times to rapturous acclaim from the audience, Thile now returns to the Elbphilharmonie to present his new solo album »Laysongs«.
