Chad Lawson
Chad Lawson has achieved something very few artists have been able to do in recent decades: getting a new audience excited about classical music. Of course, the boundaries between genres are becoming increasingly blurred, and for the best part of a generation there are, in any case, only two kinds of music: good and bad. With his 2015 album »The Chopin Variations«, Chad Lawson managed to retain the essence of the great Frédéric Chopin while wrapping it in a minimalist aesthetic accessible to an audience with no classical background whatsoever. That it is possible to deconstruct Chopin in this way, and thereby translate his music for a new audience, speaks volumes about the Polish composer’s work and perhaps even more about Chad Lawson’s talent.
