Cecilia Bartoli
Arias by Antonio Vivaldi
Cecilia Bartoli already had a chance to demonstrate her polished coloratura as a radiant Cinderella in the February 2017 concert performance of Rossini’s »La Cenerentola« in the Grand Hall. This season, the world-famous mezzo-soprano will be on the Elbphilharmonie stage again, accompanied by the ensemble Les Musiciens du Prince.
The period ensemble, put together by Bartoli herself from hand-picked top musicians from the Principality of Monaco, convinces from the outset with a palpable delight in playing and an unusually close connection with the soloist.
The perfect conditions for a Baroque aria recital that offers the entire range of emotions and virtuosity, from heart-wringing lamento to dazzling coloratura pyrotechnics. Vivaldi’s many-faceted operatic oeuvre is a true treasure trove for the purpose.
