Cécile McLorin Salvant & The Aaron Diehl Trio
Elbphilharmonie Jazz
The young American singer Cecile McLorin Salvant embodies coolness, elegance and melancholy, and thereby stands in the tradition of great female jazz singers such as Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan. Salvant’s great forte is her unusual interpretation of the classics of the Great American Songbook. The daughter of a French mother and Haitian father, she sings in English, French and Spanish, and she also writes her own songs with socio-political themes. At the Elbphilharmonie she is playing with her working band, which includes the renowned pianist Aaron Diehl.
