Philip Glass is one of the most productive composers alive. He has been stirring up the international music scene since the 1970s, alongside Steve Reich and Terry Riley. Inspired by Indian music, he achieves an almost hypnotic effect with simple chords and repetitive patterns. With this unique style, he has influenced not only the classical avant-garde, but also major pop figures such as David Bowie and Brian Eno. With a focus on classical chamber music, he can be heard at the Elbphilharmonie tonight in the roles of both composer and pianist.
