Brad Mehldau Trio

Brad Mehldau was the very first pianist to appear in the Grand Hall, and this exceptional American musician has also played at the Elbphilharmonie in his trio with Larry Grenadier on bass and Jeff Ballard on drums. The latter date brought critical praise for »music that is very much at peace with itself and all the more effective for it« and for the trio’s »musical intimacy and intensity« (BR Klassik). And it is true that the three artists sound like a single living organism where the love of improvisation and a feeling for the formal architecture of jazz flow into one.
