Bill Frisell Trio feat. Immanuel Wilkins

»Before I play with someone for the first time, I usually already know if it’s going to develop into a musical relationship,« says the legendary guitarist Bill Frisell. »It’s not so much about the instrument they play, or their style or genre. It’s all about the feeling I get from them as a person.« In the case of the bassist Thomas Morgan, a long-time colleague, he says it’s as though »he’s connected to my hand and already knows every note I’m going to play«. The duo expanded into a trio, with a new rhythmic foundation from the drummer Rudy Royston. After years of performing together, they recorded their debut album »Valentine« for Blue Note Records in 2020. And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, the saxophonist of the moment, Immanuel Wilkins, joins these three illustrious musicians as a special guest in the Elbphilharmonie Grand Hall.
