Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra / Mark Padmore / Mariss Jansons
Shostakovich / Larcher / Rave
Mariss Jansons has led the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2003. The Latvian star conductor quickly catapulted this top orchestra to world-class level. Together, they now come to Hamburg with a programme of Shostakovich, Ravel and a tailor-made cycle of orchestra songs for tenor Mark Padmore.
When Jansons received the Echo Klassik prize for his recording of Shostakovich’s 13th symphony in 2006, he was already celebrated as one of the outstanding Shostakovich interpreters in the world. His recording of the complete 15 symphonies is unsurpassed. With his typical sense for the garish and fierce, Jansons and his Munich orchestra present the symphonic debut of the then 20-year-old Shostakovich.
English tenor Mark Padmore presents a brand new cycle of orchestra songs, composed for him and his fantastically multi-coloured voice by Austrian composer Thomas Larcher.
