Aynur
Elbphilharmonie Summer
The Kurdish singer Aynur has deep roots in the Alevi tradition, within which music plays an important role. Her songs deal with weighty themes such as love, loss, pain and identity.
With her band of international musicians, she also seeks out points of contact with western European styles such as flamenco. As a result, Aynur’s expressive voice encounters the sounds of the Kurdish lute tembûr, played by the highly acclaimed Cemîl Qoçgîrî, and the classical piano, while Romanian clarinettist Alex Simu adds a dash of jazz into the mix.
