Avishai Cohen already displayed impressive solo qualities when he was a member of Chick Corea’s band. Since 2003, the Israeli bass player has held the musical reins himself, and as a virtuoso instrumentalist, singer and composer he has already entered into several collaborations with other artists.
Inspired by multicultural influences and classical music alike, his new jazz trio, formed in 2015 with pianist Omri Mor and Itamar Doari on the drums, blends rock-style attack and rhythmic complexity with liberating improvisation and a clear penchant for melody.
