Lost freedom, oppression and a lust for life: the exhibition »Afghanistan – Images of Hope« shows the country in all its diversity and turmoil. It presents paintings and photos by contemporary Afghan artists who want to fill their country with culture and life once more. Some works bear witness to the trauma Afghan society is going through, while others illustrate the population’s everyday lives: markets, landscapes, townscapes, children, idling men, dance and music. These contrasts are part of Afghan identity. The exhibition invites us to question our preconceptions, overcome stereotypes and partake in the country’s many different realities, besides and beyond the reality of war.

Free admission on presentation of a »Sufi Festival« concert ticket or a Plaza ticket. Access via the north aisle (ticket shop) on the ground floor.
