Anne-Sophie Mutter & Mutter’s Virtuosi
Vivaldi / Bach / Previn
A clever combination
This is a typical virtuoso programme, cleverly put together with plenty of variety, as is always the case when star violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter goes on tour with her ensemble of scholarship holders. This season, the elite line-up performs a work commissioned from André Previn as well as two famous pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Mutter’s Virtuosi gave the first performance of Previn’s Nonet for Two String Quartets and Double Bass during its European tour in 2015. These works are framed by violin concertos by two stars of 18th century violin music: Antonio Vivaldi worked as a composer, virtuoso and teacher in Venice and Mantua, while Joseph Bologne, a native of Guadeloupe, created a sensation in Parisian society as a brilliant violinist and an elegant fencer.
