Andreas Ottensamer / Gautier Capuçon / Yuja Wang
Brahms
Miss Clarinet
Was it just one of those famous Brahmsian understatements? Did he not really mean it when he announced in 1890 that he was done composing? Or was it that later, more passionate love that moved him to pick up his pen again? The object of that love was the Meiningen clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld, whom Brahms nicknamed »Miss Clarinet«. Brahms’s love for the warm, versatile instrument and his conviction in its virtuosic qualities come through clearly in his trio Op. 114. A strong piece for an equally strong trio: Andreas Ottensamer, Gautier Capuçon and Yuja Wang are acclaimed soloists on the world’s concert stages. When all three come together on the chamber music stage, you know something exciting is in store.
