Alice Sara Ott & Ensemble
Schumann / Ravel / Schubert
Pianist Alice Sara Ott is making more than one guest appearance with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in the 2016/17 season. What could be more natural than for her to take part in a chamber recital with some of the orchestra’s musicians? Especially as Franz Schubert, himself a master of chamber music, is Ott’s great love: »Schubert possesses a certain simplicity and nostalgia.«
It is the Schubert lieder that appeal to the pianist most of all: »I can’t sing well, it’s true, but I do it anyway.« Now, Ott can live out her fascination with Schubert’s music in his »Trout Quintet«. At the special wish of amateur cellist Silvester Paumgartner, who commissioned the work in 1819, the quintet is built around a set of variations on one of Schubert’s most popular songs, »The Trout«.
