There’s always something with those aristocrats! Royal machinations, intrigues and entanglements provide plenty of material, not just for films and novels, but also for operas. With Mary Stuart, Macbeth or Ann Boleyn, for example, you needn’t search long for drama. Other characters such as Hamlet, Don Carlos and Eugen Onegin were brought to life just for the theatre, not to forget Biblical figures such as Semiramis and Herod. These have now all been brought together on one stage for this very special concert by Diana Damrau, Nicolas Testé and the NDR Radiophilharmonie under conductor Ivan Repušić.
