She was originally planning to dance flamenco, but then became »the primadonna assoluta of our time«, as the German weekly Die Zeit called Italian opera singer Cecilia Bartoli years ago. Coloratura Bartoli’s striking mezzo-soprano voice has made her one the most successful stars of today’s classical music scene. Inspired by Claudio Abbado and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, she devoted herself to Baroque music after completing her degree.

In 2007 she fulfilled one of her own dearest wishes and set up the Cecilia Bartoli Music Foundation, which does musical research, supports performances, organises exhibitions and sponsors music projects. For her aria recital »From Baroque to Bel Canto« she appears alongside a number of talented young singers.
