Works by Claude Debussy, Sergey Rachmaninov and Sergey Prokofiev – Teatime Classics
Tom Borrow was only five when he embarked on his piano studies in Tel Aviv, and he has since enjoyed the support of piano legends like Murray Perahia, Sir András Schiff und Christoph Eschenbach. The 23-year-old kicks off the Teatime Classics series with music by Debussy, Rachmaninov and Prokofiev.
Tom Borrow has won every national piano competition in Israel, among them the prestigious Maurice M. Clairmont Prize in 2018, which the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and Tel Aviv University award every two years to a single promising artist. The young pianist was sponsored by the Jerusalem Music Centre, and has already taken part in many major masterclasses.
In January 2019, aged only 19, Tom Borrow stepped in at short notice for well-known pianist Khatia Buniatishvili in a series of twelve concerts with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, which met with great approval from audiences and critics alike. This success was followed by invitations from orchestras and conductors all over the world (Cleveland Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Semyon Bychkov, Sakari Oramo). Borrow is equally in demand for solo recitals and chamber music.
