After the Stravinsky we hear another virtuoso piece performed by Argentine pianist Nelson Goerner, who has already won the hearts of Hamburg music lovers on several occasions. Ravel was commissioned to write his D major Piano Concerto by the famous one-armed pianist Paul Wittgenstein, brother of the equally well-known philosopher Ludwig, and the solo part is played by the left hand alone! The grand finale of the evening is one of the best-known works in the repertoire: Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 "From the New World", with Dutoit at the helm, guarantees a peerless concert experience.
