What is better than one viola? Two

A concert for connoisseurs and explorers: string quintets always find themselves unjustly standing in the shadow of string quartets simply because of the instrumental line-up. The Signum Quartet and Nils Mönkemeyer perform Mozart’s wonderful Quintet KV 516 and Philipp Jarnach’s largely unknown Quintet Op. 10, which was composed in 1920. The two quintets are divided by Leoš Janáček’s famous »Kreutzer Sonata«, his first string quartet, which was inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s novella of the same name.
