1. Internationales Musikfest Hamburg • Schubertiade
»You can´t kiss by yourself«, claims Max Raabe in the well-known song – and one could go on, »and the same goes for violin sonatas« (except those by Bach, but that is another story). That violin and piano sound better together than alone is something Franz Schubert knew from his own experience, being a master of both instruments. While the dialogue between the instruments is at the centre of the Sonatines, the two voices seem to melt into one in the Grand Duo. Lastly, the virtuosic Fantasie is based on the love song »I greet you, I kiss you«. Schubert composed most of his works for musical evenings in private homes, in which he actively took part. The violin virtuoso, Renaud Capuçon, is another musician who prefers to play with good friends. Accompanying him and his Guarneri, which once belonged to the great Isaac Stern, is the expressive pianist, David Kadouch. Their obvious joy at making music together as well as the way they combine tender melodiousness with resonant sound is guaranteed to seduce every audience. Bisous!
