Audiences can look forward to a highly explosive mixture of blues and gospel, soul, jazz and funk when the charismatic American sax player Pee Wee Ellis embarks on his traditional Christmas tour. And there is space for reflective moments and a healthy portion of nostalgia for the Christmas-time American song classics as well. This year a new voice is added to the mix: Ellis is joined by China Moses, one of the world’s best female jazz and funk vocalists. As James Brown’s erstwhile music director and the co-founder of funk, Ellis became famous in the 1960s with classics like »Say it Loud (I´m Black and Proud)« and »Cold Sweat«. He later worked together with Van Morrison, Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley. At the proud old age of 78, »Dr. Funk« is now one of the last giants of his time.
