Sie ist »eine der fabelhaftesten Geigerinnen unserer Zeit«, meint »Le Figaro«: Wenn es um Lisa Batiashvili geht, dann überschlagen sich Kritiker mit Superlativen. In der Saison 2014/15 ist mit der georgischen Geigerin erstmals eine »Artist in Residence« beim NDR Sinfonieorchester eingeladen. Lisa Batiashvili ist daher gleich in drei Programmen als Solistin zu erleben. Den Anfang im Konzert mit Thomas Hengelbrock macht ein großer Klassiker des romantischen Repertoires: Johannes Brahms’ Violinkonzert D-Dur, das dieser im Jahr 1878 für den legendären Geiger Joseph Joachim schrieb. Ein Jahr bevor Brahms mit der Komposition seines Violinkonzerts begann, hatte er einem damals noch recht unbekannten böhmischen Freund und Kollegen mächtig unter die Schulter gegriffen: »Das Beste, was ein Musiker haben muss, hat Dvořák«, so empfahl Brahms den Komponisten damals an seinen Verleger Simrock – und ebnete Dvořák damit den Weg für eine rasante Karriere. Nicht einmal 20 Jahre später war der Tscheche weltweit so bekannt, dass man ihn nach New York zur Leitung des »National Conservatory of Music« einlud. Als Willkommensgruß zu Beginn seines dreijährigen Aufenthaltes in der »Neuen Welt« komponierte Dvořák seine berühmte Neunte Sinfonie, zu der er sich auch von amerikanischer Landschaft, Spirituals und »Indianerliedern« inspirieren ließ.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
