Er ist der heimliche Star unter den Cellisten und hat den Hype der Medien nicht nötig: Der Norweger Truls Mørk gilt vielen Kennern als einer der besten seiner Zunft. Den Beinamen der »zehnten Symphonie« Dvořáks verdient sich dieses Instrumental-Konzert nicht weniger als seine Beliebtheit beim Publikum und bei den größten Interpreten. Unter Cellisten ist Dvořáks Werk nicht irgendein Cellokonzert, sondern schlichtweg DAS Cellokonzert. Seinen einprägsamen Melodien und gewaltigen sinfonischen Entladungen, seiner fesselnden Virtuosität und überwältigenden Emotionalität kann sich niemand entziehen. Selbst Johannes Brahms war neidisch: »Warum habe ich nicht gewusst, dass man ein Cellokonzert wie dieses schreiben kann?«, soll er nach einem Blick auf die Partitur ausgerufen haben. Das polnische Repertoire ist Krzysztof Urbański, dem designierten Ersten Gastdirigenten des NDR Sinfonieorchesters, eine Herzensangelegenheit. Eines der vielleicht wichtigsten Werke seines Heimatlandes entfaltet unter seinen Händen ein Höchstmaß an rhythmischem Furor, folkloristischem Farbreiz und gewaltiger Klangmassierung: Witold Lutosławskis »Konzert für Orchester«. Uraufgeführt 1954 in Zeiten des politischen Tauwetters, ebnete es der polnischen Moderne den Weg zur weltweiten Anerkennung.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

Please note: There are several construction sites in the immediate vicinity of the Laeiszhalle which may make it difficult to get to the concert. Please therefore plan enough time for your journey to the concert.
The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
