Musical rendezvous

Soul, melody, groove and depth: Max Mutzke must be one of Germany’s most industrious and versatile artists. The singer with the striking soul voice broke through in 2004 as the winner of a casting competition on Stefan Raab’s ProSieben show »TV total« and went on to successfully represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul. At SHMF, Max Mutzke now teams up with the Cuban pianist and composer Marialy Pacheco for a very special kind of rendezvous. Under the simple title »Duet«, the pair enter into a very intimate process of musical flirtation, discussion, questioning and answering. The programme is based on Marialy Pacheco’s delicate arrangements of Max Mutzke’s songs. This musical exchange highlights their very different characters as well as everything they have in common.
