Matthias Meyers Niemandsland
Jazz at the Kulturcafé / Please note the change of venue
Tightly interwoven saxophone lines, colourful and moving harmonies, playful rhythms. This is how the music of Matthias Meyer’s Niemandsland can be described. In his compositions, Meyer spans long musical arcs, tells wounded stories and always tries to share his own vulnerability with the audience. The interplay between the five musicians, who met while studying together at the Jazz Institute Berlin, brings these stories to life.
Matthias Meyer is the winner of the Karl Hofer Society’s JIB Jazz Prize, donated by Mr and Mrs Kumm, and is currently studying at City College in New York on a DAAD scholarship. He won the Young Munich Jazz Prize 2023 with his band Niemandsland. The band’s debut album will be released in January 2025 as part of the »Jazz thing Next Generation« series.
Please note: For organisational reasons, the concert has been relocated to Studio E of the Laeiszhalle.
