Creating unusual sounds on his drum set is Arthur Dubois’ passion. The French drummer, composer and producer expands the sonic possibilities of his drum set with percussion instruments like rattles, cymbals and jingle bells, along with everyday objects including bowls, bottles, water and even squeaky ducks. This gives his acoustic drum set a very personalised and even electronic sound. It is precisely this passion that he conveys to instrumentalists in his workshop.
Arthur Dubois presents ideas for how certain objects and materials can be used to develop new sounds on the drums, or another instrument. He shares tips and tricks on how to give an acoustic drum kit an electronic sound using simple means. And finally, he explains how to find your own personal style when interpreting the music of others. Of course, all these ideas can be put into practice straight away with various practical exercises!
