JESSYE NORMAN ist ohne Zweifel eine der herausragenden Sängerpersönlichkeiten unserer Zeit und wird auf der ganzen Welt enthusiastisch gefeiert. Am 10. Dezember 2009 wird die Amerikanerin zusammen mit ihrem langjährigen Pianisten Mark Markham einen Liederabend im Großen Saal der Laeiszhalle bestreiten. »Bei ihr erhält jedes Wort Bedeutung, jede Note erzählt eine Geschichte. Es ist etwas Göttliches in ihrer Art, Musik zu machen.« So beschreibt es das Kennedy Center, das die Sängerin mit dem »Honor Award« auszeichnete. »Jessye Norman«, so hieß es einmal in einer Rezension, »zählt zu jenen Sängerpersönlichkeiten, wie sie nur einmal in jeder Generation auftreten- Persönlichkeiten nämlich, die nicht nur in die Fußstapfen von anderen treten, sondern sich ihren ganz eigenen Platz in der Geschichte des Gesangs erobern«. Diese facettenreiche Geschichte wird durch Jessye Normans Auftritte ständig fortgeschrieben – Auftritte, bei denen sie den berauschenden Klang ihrer Stimme und ihre spontane Leidenschaft vor begeisterten Zuhörern in aller Welt zur Geltung bringt, sei es nun bei Liederabenden, Operndarbietungen oder Konzerten mit Symphonieorchestern und Kammermusik-ensembles. Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

Please note: There are several construction sites in the immediate vicinity of the Laeiszhalle which may make it difficult to get to the concert. Please therefore plan enough time for your journey to the concert.
The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
