Am 19. Mai 1974 trat im Kölner Sendesaal des WDR zum ersten Mal ein bis dahin hierzulande unbekannter, holländischer Universal-Entertainer auf, der kaum deutsch sprach, aber singen konnte wie ein junger Gott. 42 Jahre später begibt Herman van Veen sich auf seine neue, mittlerweile elfte Deutschland-Tournee, die er »Fallen oder Springen« nennt. Er sagt: »Dieses Motto passt außergewöhnlich gut zu meinem Alter. Es war und wird auch immer die wichtigste Entscheidung meines Lebens bleiben, ob ich mich einfach nur fallen lasse oder aktiv springe«.
