Das allererste Elbphilharmonie Konzert: Seit langem hat kein anderer Dirigent so schnell Weltkarriere gemacht wie der 1981 geborene Gustavo Dudamel: Inmitten des »Orchesterwunders« Venezuelas – ein staatlich gefördertes Aufblühen der Jugendorchester – wurde sein Talent entdeckt. Als 18-Jähriger übernahm er das venezolanische Jugendorchester »Simón Bolívar«, dessen Qualität auch Dirigenten wie Rattle, Abbado und Barenboim begeisterte. Das Debüt bei den Berliner Philharmonikern ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Seit zwei Jahren ist Gustavo Dudamel Chef der ausgezeichneten Göteborgs Symfonikern, mit denen er im Rahmen der »Nordic Concerts« erstmals in Hamburg gastiert. Gustavo Dudamel und »El Sistema« Seit mehr als dreißig Jahren errichtet der Ökonom, Politiker und Musiker José Antonio Abreu in Venezuela das »Sistema« - ein Netzwerk von Kinder- und Jugendorchestern und Musikzentren. In diesen Zentren erlernen heute über 300.000 Kinder und Jugendliche ein Instrument, um ihnen einen Ausweg aus dem Kreislauf der Armut in den Barrios von Caracas zu bieten. Der phänomenale Erfolg von Gustavo Dudamel, der selbst im »Sistema« groß geworden ist, dient ihnen dabei als Vorbild. Im Mai 2009 lief in den deutschen Kinos der Dokumentarfilm »El Sistema« an, der zeigt, wie die Kraft der Musik langsam Venezuela verändert.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

Please note: There are several construction sites in the immediate vicinity of the Laeiszhalle which may make it difficult to get to the concert. Please therefore plan enough time for your journey to the concert.
The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
