»Der Pianist des Unmöglichen« hat Bruno Monsaingeon seinen Film über Libetta genannt. Der Musiker und Regisseur war beim ersten Hören überzeugt, dass er es »wahrscheinlich mit einem der erstaunlichsten Virtuosen-Genies in der Geschichte der Musik« zu tun hatte. Libetta, der eine phänomenale Technik mit der Musikalität und der Kultur verbindet, die auch dem entlegensten Repertoire Poesie und Tiefe verleihen, ist mit allen legendären Pianisten von Busoni und Rachmaninoff bis Horowitz verglichen worden. Diesmal hat der »aristokratische Poet des Klaviers mit dem Profil und der Haltung eines Renaissance-Fürsten« (The New York Times) ein Programm dabei, das – dem Janus ähnlich – in der ersten Hälfte zurückschaut, d.h. Kompositionen bringt, die sich nicht nur an historischem Material, sondern auch an Mustern und Techniken der Vergangenheit orientieren. Im zweiten Teil ist Musik von Komponisten zu hören, die hier in Form und/oder Materie zukunftsweisend sind. Gleichzeitig bietet es Gelegenheit, den völlig unterrepräsentierten italienischen Komponisten Ottorino Respighi von einer praktisch unbekannten Seite kennenzulernen. Chamber music series, lieder recitals, children's concerts and jazz events seem to be made for the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, which can accommodate up to 640 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
