When it comes to the Crash Ensemble, the name says it all. Always searching for new musical encounters, the unconventional Irish ensemble travelled to the land of ice and snow, and returned with an interesting wild creature – Daníel Bjarnason. The Icelander is one of the world’s most in-demand composers.
His works have been performed by Gustavo Dudamel and by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, with which he has a close artistic relationship. But the rising star is also enjoying great success outside the world of classical music through cross-genre collaborations with artists such as Ben Frost.
The same is true for Mariam Wallentin, who will be performing in the German premiere of Bjarnason’s lieder cycle »Songs«: the charismatic singer is famous around the world for her experimental projects straddling the boundary between pop, jazz and classical music.
