Nordic Concerts
Als Chefdirigent des NDR Sinfonieorchesters ist der gebürtige Wilhelmshavener Thomas Hengelbrock seit 2011 regelmäßig in Hamburg zu erleben. Seltener gastiert er hingegen mit »seinen« beiden anderen Ensembles in der Laeiszhalle: dem Balthasar-Neumann-Chor und dem Kammerorchester, die beide den Namen des berühmten süddeutschen Barockarchitekten tragen – ihn verstehen die Musiker als Vorbild für »mutige Kreativität und ganzheitliche Konzepte in Perfektion«. Verwurzelt ist Thomas Hengelbrock seit jeher in der Alten Musik: Als studierter Geiger spielte er u.a. in Nikolaus Harnoncourts Concentus Musicus mit, 1985 gehörte er zu den Gründern des Freiburger Barockorchesters. Und auch mit seinen beiden ebenfalls in Freiburg beheimateten Ensembles bleibt er der historisch informierten Aufführungspraxis treu. Nach dem gefeierten Hamburg-Debüt 2012 mit Bachs Weihnachtsoratorium kehren der Balthasar-Neumann-Chor und das Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble nun nach Hamburg zurück – im Gepäck haben sie Johann Sebastian Bachs erhabene h-Moll-Messe. Im Rahmen von »ZukunftsMusik« besuchen Schüler des Gymnasiums Grootmoor dieses Konzert. Im Vorfeld erhalten die Schüler die Gelegenheit, Ensemblemitglieder in einem persönlichen Künstlergespräch kennenzulernen und eine Probe mitzuerleben. Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
