Wenn es um Ludwig van Beethovens Streichquartette geht, dann hat sich vor allem ein international herausragendes Ensemble einen Namen gemacht: Das Artemis Quartett setzt mit Beethovens Drittem Streichquartett den Auftakt zu einem besonderen kammermusikalischen Abend.
Das Berliner Quartett wurde 1989 gegründet und zählt zu den besten Quartettformationen weltweit, mit eigenen Konzertreihen in der Berliner Philharmonie und im Wiener Konzerthaus. In der Laeiszhalle war es zuletzt im Dezember 2015 zu Gast – mit einem Gedenkkonzert für den verstorbenen Bratschisten Friedemann Weigle, der das Ensemble lange geprägt hat. Mit der vielfach ausgezeichneten Kammermusikerin Anthea Kreston als Zweite Geigerin formierte sich das Ensemble neu. Gregor Sigl übernahm die Bratschenstimme.
Neben klassischer und romantischer Literatur hat sich das Artemis Quartett besonders der zeitgenössischen Musik verschrieben wie die Zusammenarbeit mit Komponisten wie Jörg Widmann und ein vom Quartett selbst ausgeschriebener Kompositionswettbewerb zeigen. Viermal wurde das Artemis Quartett bisher mit dem ECHO Klassik geehrt, zuletzt 2015 und 2016 mit der Einspielung von Werken Mendelssohn-Bartholdys sowie mit dem Friedemann Weigle gewidmeten Album der Brahms-Quartette op. 51/1 und op. 67.

Chamber music series, lieder recitals, children's concerts and jazz events seem to be made for the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, which can accommodate up to 640 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Please note: There are several construction sites in the immediate vicinity of the Laeiszhalle which may make it difficult to get to the concert. Please therefore plan enough time for your journey to the concert.
The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
