Kammermusik
Zwei Quartette ergeben ein Oktett. Klanglich rückt diese Kammermusikgattung schon fast an ein kleines Streichorchester heran. Um einen solchen Eindruck zu vermeiden, hatte der Romantiker Louis Spohr seine Oktette noch als »Doppelquartette« bezeichnet, um die Gegenüberstellung zweier gleichwertiger Streichquartette hervorzuheben. Mit dem Arcanto Quartett und dem Tetzlaff Quartett treffen in Hamburg nun zwei Quartette der Sonderklasse aufeinander, die weniger auf klangliche Trennung als auf größtmögliche Verschmelzung bedacht sind – eine Mission, deren Erfolg dank Christian Tetzlaff am höheren und Tabea Zimmermann und Jean-Guihen Queyras am tieferen Ende des Klangspektrums gewiss ist. Unter den Komponisten scheinen sich besonders die jungen Tonsetzer für das Oktett begeistert zu haben: Sowohl Dmitri Schostakowitsch als auch George Enescu waren erst 19, als sie ihre Oktette schrieben. Und das wuchtigste und virtuoseste Gattungsbeispiel stammt vom 16-jährigen Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy.

Chamber music series, lieder recitals, children's concerts and jazz events seem to be made for the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle, which can accommodate up to 640 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
