Both Fanny Hensel and her brother Felix Mendelssohn were brilliant pianists – keyboard virtuosi whose remarkable talent had the public lying at their feet. It comes as no surprise, then, that they both wrote piano pieces and ever larger-scale piano works. And even though different compositions from their pens achieved greater fame later on, it was with piano works that they first conquered the musical world.
