Description

The harp is a heavenly instrument. But down here on earth there aren’t that many harp soloists touring the world’s major stages. One of the rare ones that do is the French harpist Anaïs Gaudemard, who has been in great demand since winning the First Prize at the International Harp Competition in Israel in 2012.

Since there are only a few original harp pieces, popular works, which were originally written for orchestra, guitar or piano, were often rearranged for solo harp. Anaïs Gaudemard performs such a transcription in the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall: a version of Bedřich Smetana’s symphonic tone poem »The Moldau« for harp.

Also on her programme are original works for harp such as Albert Zabel’s »Am Springbrunnen« and Paul Hindemith’s »Sonata in B-flat major for Solo Harp«. The concert is rounded off with a commissioned composition by the female French composer Camille Pépin (born 1990).
