A Somewhat Different Concert Experience

The most original works in the Elbphilharmonie season are on the agenda of the Elbphilharmonie’s subscription series for adventurers: in the choral opera »Tristia«, which was only premiered in the Russian town of Perm in 2016, French composer Philippe Hersant sets texts written by prison inmates to music; an altogether »political composition«, as Teodor Currentzis says. As part of the »Lux aeterna« festival, the whirling dervishes from Damascus in Syria appear in the Grand Hall: music, song and the revolving dance typical of the dervishes combine here to form a spiritual ritual of the Islamic Sufis that is hundreds of years old. Finally, in their project »Minimal Dream House«, pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque take on the most exciting compositions in the field of minimal music, from its beginnings in 1960s New York to the present day.

Please note that »Elbphilharmonie für Abenteurer« will appear on subscription cards.
