Description

»Chamber music is the centre of all music, irrespective of whether it’s a real piece of chamber music, a solo work or a concerto with orchestra, where chamber ensemble playing is of enormous importance.« With these words, star cellist Nicolas Altstaedt speaks for all his fellow musicians who cannot live without chamber music, any more than he could. In the intimate atmosphere of the Laeiszhalle Recital Hall, the all-star ensembles made up of well-known soloists underscore how satisfying it can be to retreat into a small musical formation.

A piano trio led by the world-class Ukrainian violinist Vadim Gluzman surprises the listener with a work by Armenian composer Arno Babadjanian. The three-star trio Emmanuel Pahud, Jean-Guihen Queyras and Eric Le Sage seals its friendship with a new work by the Japanese composer Toshio Hosokawa. And Nicolas Altstaedt shows what a sensitive team player he is in two different settings: in a sextet together with the Quatuor Ebène, and then as a member of an octet alongide the Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang.
