Teatime Classics
Louise Wehr, violin
Although she was born in Munich, Louise Wehr feels drawn to the north of Germany. She found her second home in Hannover, where she studied at the Institute for the Early Advancement of the Musically Highly Gifted (IFF) before enrolling as a regular student in 2014. Parallel to her studies, she gave concerts with North German Radio (NDR) in Bremen and Hannover, at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and with the Orchestervereinigung Hannover.
Thus at the young age of 20, Ms Wehr can already look back on an impressive career as a violinist, in the course of which she has won several first prizes at the youth music competition »Jugend Musiziert«, first prize at the Concours Flame in Paris, and the audience prize at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. She also made it to the finale at the highly-regarded Louis Spohr Competition in Weimar.
In Hannover she also got to know Tokyo-born pianist Natsumi Ohno, who likewise studied at the Hannover University of Music, and is now a teacher there. The two lady musicians have chosen an interesting programme for their recital in the »Teatime Classics« series: in addition to pieces by the French composers Fauré and Saint-Saëns, they play an enchanting Stravinsky divertimento based on material from the ballet »The Fairy’s Kiss«.
