Black to the Future
For the past decade he has been the defining figure of London‘s jazz scene: Shabaka Hutchings grew up in the UK before moving to Barbados, where his sensibility was opened to music. The Sons of Kemet are a jazz supergroup he put together, soaking up music from all over the world. They combine West African rhythms with Caribbean ska, melodies and scales from the Middle East with hip-hop beats from the USA.
Discount: By presenting a ticket for this concert you will receive €1 discount on a ticket for the film screening »Space is the Place« at the Zeise Kino.
Their music is both political and danceable. On their album »Black to the Future«, which they present in the Elbphilharmonie, the Sons of Kemet practically march and stomp their way into the auditory canals of listeners. Critics and fans around the world are fascinated by this sound, which shifts from ritual sparsity one moment to a shaking of the ground the next, with fat brass sounds, drums and shouts and screams from afar. Intoxicating music.
