Top orchestra from Rome

Frédéric Chopin was only 19 years old when he wrote his F minor Piano Concerto – for the sake of love. It was the opera singer Konstancja Gladkowska who inspired the young composer here and apparently spurred him on to artistic excellence: brilliantly virtuosic, harmonically daring and profoundly romantic at the same time, the concerto drew storms of enthusiasm from the audience at its premiere – and has lost none of its radiance to this day. It is not known whether the composition of Anton Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony was also due to an affair of the heart. Either way, the monumental work brought Bruckner his first world success and remains one of his most popular symphonies to this day. ProArte resident artist Jan Lisiecki plays this additional concert in Hamburg at the invitation of Sir Antonio Pappano and the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, adding another exciting facet to his residency.
