Romantics amongst themselves

In the 2019/20 season, Petr Popelka was the first winner of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Academy’s conducting scholarship. Now the Czech conductor, who has made an international name for himself in the meantime, returns to the rostrum at the Elbphilharmonie. With effect from the start of the 2020/21 concert season, he took up the position of chief conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra in Oslo. For his comeback in North Germany, Popelka has put together a well-thought-out programme of music by influential composers of the Romantic era.
