NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra / Alan Gilbert
Haydn
When Alan Gilbert takes up his position as its new principal conductor, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra marks the occasion with three intensive weeks full of music. With six exciting and many-faceted programmes, Gilbert forges links between tradition and modernity, between the Old and the New World, between musicians and the audience. For all his delight at the Elbphilharmonie, the former First Guest Conductor also pays his respects to his orchestra’s previous artistic home with a concert at the Laeiszhalle: this gem of a concert hall is the perfect setting for music by Joseph Haydn, documenting the breadth of Gilbert’s repertoire and his musical sense of humour at the same time.
