NDR Chor / Gabriel Schwabe / Philipp Ahmann
Lux aeterna
The musical contrast of a single solo cello together with a whole choir is an unusual constellation which is presented in both Knut Nystedt’s »Stabat mater« and Sir John Tavener’s »Svyati.« Extreme poignancy and intimacy characterise both these works of sacred vocal literature selected by the NDR Choir and their leader Philipp Ahmann for this concert. The soloist is the young Berlin cellist Gabriel Schwabe who also plays unaccompanied works by Bach and George Crumb.
