Maja Göpel: »Wir können auch anders«
Harbour Front Literaturfestival
How do we want to live?
ZEIT ONLINE refers to Maja Göpel as »the academic of the hour, one of the influential voices of our time«. The way we humans live is set to undergo fundamental change. Things that have hitherto been taken for granted in the fields of the environment, business, politics, society and technology are crumbling. Based on scientific findings, the political economist, transformation expert and sustainability researcher Maja Göpel explains in her book »Wir können auch anders« (We Can Do Things Differently) how we can understand such complex developments, and use the knowledge gained to create a better world.
Over the centuries, there have always been major transformations. They were triggered by humans – so humans can also shape them. The window to the future is open as never before. With this attitude as a starting point, structural change is not an imposition but an opportunity. It’s time for every individual, and for society as a whole, to take the liberty of rethinking and asking a radical question: who do we want to be?
Last year the series »Harbour Front Future« was launched with Maja Göpel as its final guest. Her book »Wir können auch anders« had not been published yet when the event was held in October 2021. Now we come full circle: this year, Maja Göpel will be a guest at the Harbour Front Literature Festival before the official opening.
