Piano Recital: Rudolf Buchbinder
Beethoven
According to the Hamburger Abendblatt, Rudolf Buchbinder’s concert last season was »a feast for all Beethoven and Buchbinder fans« because »he, when playing Beethoven, has the confident composure of an interpreter who has nothing left to prove to himself or others«.
And it’s true. Years of intensive study – not only of the music itself, but also of the biographic and philosophical background to the works – show in his thoughtful yet spontaneous playing. On the occasion of his seventieth birthday, the Austrian pianist is rewarding himself and his audience with the finest possible gift: a recital tour that brings him to Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle, where Beethoven is naturally on the programme.
