Klaus Florian Vogt / Symphoniker Hamburg
Wagner
Knight of the Grail with orchestral experience
Klaus Florian Vogt didn’t really become a heroic tenor until later in his career. First of all, the native of Schleswig-Holstein studied the French horn and went on to play in the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra. Only a few years after that did he swap the orchestra pit for the limelight, launching a truly fabulous opera career: from Milan to Tokyo, and of course in Wagner mecca Bayreuth, Wagner lovers flock to see him as Lohengrin, Parsifal or Tannhäuser.
Lohengrin, Knight of the Grail, has become one of his signature roles: hardly any other contemporary singer can compete with Vogt’s vocal lustre in the Story of the Holy Grail from Act Three of the opera. The audience can now look forward in the »Große Stimmen« (Great Voices) subscription series to a home match from the world-class tenor in the city where he started his career. It goes without saying that the concert will include plenty of Wagner.
