Kayhan Kalhor / Ali Bahrami Fard

Lux aeterna

Nobody embodies classical Persian music quite like the legendary Kamancheh virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor. Working with his various ensembles, Kalhor continues age-old musical traditions that were passed down orally, preserving sounds that would otherwise get lost, and he also develops and enriches these traditions through collaboration with the likes of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble or the New York Philharmonic. His project »I Will Not Stand Alone« relates to the rise of the »Green Movement« in Iran in 2009, when mass protests against the alleged electoral fraud that kept President Ahmadinejad in power were forcefully crushed by the regime. Kayhan Kalhor’s message is conveyed by the spiritual force of his music.
