Jörg Widmann / Mitsuko Uchida
Brahms / Berg / Widmann
Summit meeting at the Elbphilharmonie: Mitsuko Uchida and Jörg Widmann guarantee the utmost musical perfection. In this concert they can both be heard in several different functions – as soloist, duo partner and, in Jörg Widmann’s case, as a composer as well.
For fans of solo piano music, Mitsuko Uchida plays the C minor Impromptu by Schubert. The programme also features milestones of the clarinet repertoire, such as Schumann’s »Three Fantasy Pieces«, the F minor Sonata by Brahms and Alban Berg’s Four Pieces Op. 5, which Widmann himself describes as »perhaps the greatest of all 20th century music«. Last but not least, Jörg Widmann also brings two of his own compositions with him to Hamburg: a fantasia for himself and six Schubert reminiscences for Mitsuko Uchida with the very Schubertian title »Idyll and Abyss«.
